As access to trans healthcare faces increasing challenges in America, we can draw inspiration from the ingenuity of historic Black mutual aid networks. Enslaved and free African-Americans, even under severe legal and economic restrictions, developed powerful systems of collective support—pooling resources to buy freedom, provide healthcare, and build community. This 23 minute class explores how those historic strategies can inform and empower today’s queer and trans healthcare fundraising efforts.
